Thank you

Thank you!  Thank you to our friends for your gifts and words of encouragement.  Thank you to our family, who not only showered us with gifts and money, but some of whom are coming out to California to visit us and meet the baby.  First, thank you to my mom who was here immediately after Leah was born.  Thank you mom for being here so soon to help us with these first few weeks.  Next, thank you to my sister, for taking time off work and money out of her bank account to pay for another expensive plane ticket to visit us and meet her niece.  Thank you to my Dad and Wanda who will come after that to help us.  And finally, thank you to BA's parents who are coming in August, and an especially huge thank you to BA's mom who is staying on with us to watch the Peanut while I go back to school - what a tremendous help she will be.  We so appreciate all the gifts, and are so grateful for the time.  Thank you everyone!

As I write this post tonight, Leah turned 1 week old.  I know it's silly, but I'm a little sad that it's already been a week.  I feel like time is flying by and I am trying to soak up every minute - even those minutes at 4 a.m. when she's screaming bloody murder and I've only had 2 hours of sleep.  I can't believe a week ago I met my little girl for the very first time.  She is absolutely wonderful and I am amazed at how lucky we are to have her.  I think back to the first hours of her life - she was born at 11:05 p.m. pacific time and since it was 2 a.m. on the east coast we decided to keep her birth a secret for 5 hours until it was 7 a.m. eastern standard time; we didn't want to wake anyone in the middle of the night.  So that first night in the hospital it was just BA, Leah, and me ... our little family, resting peacefully together.  That was a wonderful night for all of us.

Here are some more pictures from the first week.

She started looking around with her big beautiful eyes that first night.  She's tracking our voices now and it's so nice to make eye contact with her.  I can't kiss her enough.

Just for fun :)  I told you she was tiny!  That's my baby blanket she's resting on.

Getting ready for bed in her froggy sleeper, a gift from Aunt Haley.

  1. OH MY GOSH-she is soo tiny! I first thought, where did they find a giant plastic banana? Then I realized she was THAT little. Wow. And she is THAT cute too. She'll be great at yoga, she's clearly already mastered child's pose.
By the way, you are more than welcome :)
Love to all and kisses to little lady Leah.

  2. She's so pretty, but she had to be considering her mom and dad. Try to email a few more pictures so I can print and show to everyone. Love, J

  3. In all fairness, it's a big banana, but she is tiny - about 5 lbs 12 oz in this picture :)

  5. AA and BA, and Leah, what a lovely family. I got to hear her yesterday as AA called and said I had wanted to talk to Leah. We had to use BA's phone until Leah gets her own smart phone next week. We had a nice conversation, and she wanted to know when her parents would quit waking her up every 2 hours, so she could get some sleep.

Thank you for your comments. I love reading them. For those of you who know us personally, please use "AA" and "BA" in place of our names. Thank you!
