Dear Leah,
Welcome to this world! You are two weeks old today and I cannot begin to tell you how much I already love you. As I sit here and write this letter you are snuggled up on my chest and sleeping soundly. I love these quiet moments where I can just enjoy being with you and kiss you quietly on the head. You are my tiny little girl and you are just beautiful.
For a while your Dad and I weren’t sure if you were going to be a healthy baby. It makes me cry right now just thinking about it. I was so scared for you, and prayed every night to God asking him to grant me one wish that you would be healthy. My prayer was answered tenfold because not only are you healthy, but you are strong and beautiful too. On your second day on this earth you were already trying to hold up your head. You have big beautiful eyes and you will stare up at whoever is holding you and follow the sound of their voice with your eyes. Your little feet, which I felt so often in my womb, are so strong and easily kick off any blanket I put around you. Your head is still slightly cone shaped but I love its imperfection. It reminds me of where you came from and that you are mine.
Leah, I only hope two things for you in this life … that you are healthy and happy. I will do my very best every single day of my life to make sure that you are always these two things. Because you are so precious to me and truly a gift from God. Thank you for joining our family.
Love,
Mom

AA and BA,
ReplyDeleteA very lovely and well written letter about Leah. She is a very lovely little girl, and I love her as much as you two. AA, although I did not have the wisdom nor skill to write such a letter to you when you were 2 weeks old, I, and your Mom, had the very same thoughts as you so artfully wrote. As of the day of her birth, you and BA have total control and care of Leah. Your journey will be to gradually give up that control and care, and it is your responsibility to do so with love and reason. Leah did not choose her parents, nor choose to be born, but she has won the lottery of life and you and BA have the responsibility and the wisdom (I do know you) to give Leah the chance to grow up in a safe and loving home. She already has a head start.
That's beautiful, AA, thank you for sharing that. Leah is pretty smart, so I think she has already figured out that she is in very, very, good hands with you and BA. I can't wait to meet you in 3 days, Leah!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute to a beautiful little girl. Can't wait to meet her!
