Maybe She Likes Numbers

We've talked about Leah's lack of interest in books before.  Well, since Leah turned 9 months old, I've been attempting to read books to her at night because I'm told that is what all "involved" parents are supposed to do.  I want to encourage a love of reading plus I think it's a nice way to end the day with her.  So after her bath, and right before bed, I'll sit down with her and read a book.  So far, it's not going so well.

Case in point.

Editor's note: We usually take about 20 pictures just to get one good shot for the blog.  These are the only three pictures we took that night.  She was doing the same thing the entire time I was reading.

BA started laughing hysterically as I blurted out, "she gets this from you!"  He just kept laughing.  One thing is for sure, she'll never make it through law school with this attitude.  Ha!

  1. Leah, you've cut me to the quick! Just kidding--preferring numbers to words can get you far in life. But, I'm not giving up hope yet, it could be that she just doesn't care for the lackluster stories in these books.

  2. Oh totally! These books are BO-ring!!! In this one I'm even singing some silly song and she's still not interested. She must be more advanced than I realized. Tomorrow we try Dickens.

  3. I have faith in little Miss Leah. She will become interested in those books!

  4. This series reminds me of your Aunt Haley, Leah, when she got so bored w/choir pix at the Baptist church, John Pryor's church, (your first boyfriend.)
'Hit the books' is an aquired trait. gma

  5. Good plan, AA. Dickens, or even Dahl, might pique her interest. Oh wait, but she's already heard Matilda hasn't she? Gma: really, we're bringing up the choir photos? Leah, be forewarned, the images of your youth never go away, especially since yours will all be on this blog.

  6. You were/are just as precious as your namesake, Haley

  7. Leah, so much concern about your reading vs sleeping choice, it's enough to make you go straight to the nearest pub for some solitude. I have it on good authority that your aunt Haley learned to read at a very young age, due to the fact that her parents were so old when she was your age that they fell asleep while trying to read the saga of Bilbao Baggins to her, and aunt Haley had to finish the story on her own.
