I look at Leah these days and I see a combination of a baby and toddler. And I am simultaneously happy and sad. Today was one of those days where the "mommy" in me came out. I got sad opening a package of diapers because we are no longer using Pampers Swaddlers - we have moved up to Pampers Cruisers. My baby is a "cruiser" now? Am I ready for toddler-hood? Turns out my timeline has nothing to do with it. She is still very much a baby but there are shades of a toddler coming out in her whether I like it or not.
She's becoming sneaky. She'll take off crawling when you put her down. She continues to
attempt to crawl off the bed (we don't put her on the bed very often
anymore) and tries to touch every toy she has when she wakes up in the morning. She is very impatient for her food and moans and groans until I bring it to her. She still lets me feed her and only occassionally tries to grab the spoon. She hums while she eats her food, and when she's ready for the next bite, she will pop her mouth wide open and jut her face forward - there's no mistaking her, Leah is hungry.
Sometimes she throws her head back to laugh which is adorable and a very toddler-ish move. Or when she tries out standing up she just looks so "grown-up" to me. She has two bottom teeth and a top tooth is coming in. She hates diaper changes and getting into her car seat. It's impossible to feed her in public because there's too much action going on around her to get her to focus on drinking. She refuses to drink from her sippy cup but if I hold my water bottle up to her mouth she'll try and take a sip (sort of - usually I just end up pouring water down her shirt, which she likes just the same). She still loves the bath but doesn't care about the hairdryer anymore. But she loves being out and seeing people. She is an excellent shopping buddy.
I just love every inch of her. To me, she's like a giant, crawling Krispy-Kreme donut and I want to eat her up.
Just enjoy all of the memories. They go by much too quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh what a cute little sneaker. I love all the different nicknames we now have for her: Peanut, doughnut, peach, and I'm sure there are more that I just can't think of at the moment. And she already has teeth, I can't believe it!!! Give her a big hug from me and tell her I'll see her in a couple weeks!
ReplyDeleteThrowing her head back when she laughs sounds like an Aaron feather, for sure.
ReplyDeleteLet her grab the spoon; yes, there will be a mess but what a learning opportunity and, of course, a laugh.
I think a new nickname can be 'The Hummer', don't you agree?
